What a concert! They started the scandinavian tour here in my hometown, Stockholm. I can honestly say that they blew my mind. Im actually not a fanatical Meshuggah fan but some songs justs rewls, and a more skillful metalband is actually very difficult to even think of. The drummer "Tomas Haake" must be heard to belive, the drumsound is incredible and the thing he and the band does with polyrhythms is INSANE! If you have the possibility to see them Live dont miss it. Even if you dont like their music its an experience just to witness pure and shining talant!

The polyrhythms are worth the price of admission alone, I saw Meshuggah open for Tool a few months ago. Awesome stuff.

Stengah
Perpetual Black Second
Rational Gaze
Sickening
Sane
Closed Eye Visuals
Nebulous
Glints Collide
(5+ minutes of end-of-Chaosphere noise)
New Millennium Cyanide Christ
Elastic
Concatenation
-----------------
Soul Burn
Futile Bread Machine

From what I've heard of Meshuggah I like it. Most of my mates are guitarists who find the lack of proper melody annoying, whereas I'm a drummer and all the rhythm stuff interests me, I also like dischords :)

cool :D

Damn, Meshuggah never stop touring!... fuck, i missed Tool twice when they were touring with Meshuggah. But, I remeber all the bastard Tool fans writing reviews on the semi-official site saying that Meshuggah was all noise, and that they suck live, and that they are a bad choice for an opener. Ugh, idiots most of them. I'm sure Meshuggah will come back though.

:( straws pulled at random is their best song imho. Soulburn cyanide and future breed machine also slay. haake is a god. but i find the distinct lack of any melody very abrasive unless the rythem is sublime.

That is fucking awesome man! I can only pray one day they will tour down under, I really want to see those guys play... they are one of my Top 3 favourite bands of all time, their shit just slays...

EDIT: *listening to Elastic*... so many boners... all from one song.

I play guitar and im IN LOVE with the polyrhytmic structure of the riffs... it just gives me boners to follow the rhythm on those syncopated changes and Fredrik Thordendal's side project Sol Niger Within could possibly be my favourite album of all time... and yeah, just the whole polyrhythm thing adds a new dimension of heavyness to their music... it's just pure brutality, but not noise as alot of DM comes off as.

The world is small...Some friends of mine played in a heavymetal band a couple of years ago. They rehearsed in a place near my home. One evening when they tried some shit out they heard some massive "thunder" from the room next to them. They got curious and checked it out. A new band rehearsed and they could tell that these guys was incredible. They listen to their insane rythms and mindblowing abilities for some minutes and then went to rehearse some more (not as confident as before I can tell you ;-)

Next time they asked a guy in the band what their name was, Meshuggah he answered. They wasnt famous then so he didnt recognise the name but when Destroy, Erase, Improve came out my friends just freaked! :Smokin:
