ONE OF THE REASONS SAXON STRUGGLE IN THE UK IS THE PISS POOR REISSUES.I BUY RECORD COLLECTOR EVERY MONTH AND READ HOW LITTLE KNOWN BANDS ARE BEING TREATED. THE ALBUMS GET REMIXED THEY RELAVENT B SIDES BONUS TRACKS AND TREATED WITH RESPET THEY MAY OR MAY NOT DESERVE.SAXON JUST SEEM TO GET CHEAP BEST OFFS PUT OUT EVERY MONTH.THIS NEEDS TO BE SORTED SAXON DESERVE BETTER:( PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU AGREE YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO POINT OUT SOME GOOD COLLECTION KNOCKING ABOUT . I AM ABOUT TO START UPDATING

I believe that a lot of it is down to the record company and not the band. A record company might put out a 'best of' and not even consult the band. So you can't really blame Saxon for the constant crappy best of's and re-issues. I believe that most bands are in the same boat.

I'VE SEEN WHERE THIS HAPPENS STATESIDE, AND IT'S S SHAME 'CAUSE THE RECORD COMPANY IS PROBABLY MAKING ALL THE MONEY, WHILE THE BAND IS PROBABLY GETTING DICKED. USUALLY WHAT HAPPENS IS THE COMPANY OWNS THE RIGHTS TO THE MUSIC OF A BAND THAT
SOLD IT TO THEM WHEN THEY FELL ON HARD TIMES, AND NOW THEY DON'T GET A SAY IN IT AT ALL. JUST LOOK AT ALL THE BEST OF TED NUGENTS FLOATING AROUND.

I SEE WHAT YER SAYING BUT LOOK AT THE WAY JUDUS PRIEST HAVE BEEN TREATED.THERE REISSUES ARE FUCKING BRILLIANT I WILL BE BUYING A COUPLE AND I AM NOT A MASSIVE FAN.FAIR ENOUGH THEY MADE IT BIG IN THE STATES. BUT URIAH HEEP DIDNT AND THEY ARE TREARED WITH THE UPMOST RESPECT BY THE COMPILERS.IT SEEMS TO ME THEY ARE RAW DEAL AND I THINKTHIS IS THE REASON FOR THE LACK OF INTEREST IN THE U.K.

The Priest reissues are the best I've seen, period. You can HEAR the difference like night & day (thanks to Jon Astley's appropriately hot remastering) and the bonus tracks are just what one would hope for.

Sadly, they seem to be the exception... not the rule.

As far as "The Best Of" type releases, yes, most of it is due to the record company trying to milk every $$$ out of a bands name. However, this is usually done when the artist is currently no longer recording with the label. A ton of small labels do this just to survive.

I THINK THIS IS TRUE.BUT THE BAND MUST HAVE SOME IMPUT INTO WHAT GOES ON THEM.IF NOT THEY WOULD GET CASH FROM SALES SO I SUPPOSE WHY SHOULD THEY GIVE A SHIT. SAXON SEEM LIKE A BAND WHO WOULD HATE TO SEE THE FANS GET RIPPED OFF. BUT I DONT SUPPOSE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT .WHICH IS A SHAME BECAUSE I THIK IT HAMPPERS THEM IN MAKING BIGGER INROADS INTO THE UK.

Don't blame the band. I think that many of the rights to some Saxon songs belong(ed) to a variety of ex-managers and older record companies. As far as I know Biff has been trying to get back all of the Saxon rights. Hence some of the good quality re-issues.

I am lucky to have a mix of Vinyl and Cd's that covers their entire career. I don't own a single compilation album or best of. I tend to stay away from them.

NO I WOULD NEVER BLAME THE BAND.SAXON HAVE ALWAYS SEEMED LIKE THEY CARE FOR THEIR FANS . WHEN THE BAND SORT OUT THESE LEGAL PROBLEMS. ALL MY OLD LPS ARE STARTING TO SOUND A BIT SHITTY. AS A rule i never BUY BEST OFS EITHER,BUT THIS WAS ONLY 3.99 SO I THOUGHT FUCK IT . THE SONGS SOUNDED SHITHOT,AND LEFT ME WANTING MORE . :D

I think that 'BBC Sessions/Live at Reading' is perhaps one of the more intreresting 'best ofs' even though it really isnt a best of at all, the quality of the songs is superb.
