Evelyn: Try and open it in Photoshop, or any other photo editing application. Look for 'brightness' settings under the 'Adjustment' settings under 'Image' menu.. if you're using PS, and increase the level. You could adjust the contrast according to what you need. ('Image Size' option under the Image menu for the sizing)
