I used to love blasting "Blackout" and "Love at First Sting" was also quite good. Now I'm going back and checking out all the earlier albums. The Uli Roth era stuff is fantastic, particularly "In Trance," "Virgin Killer" and "The Tokyo Tapes." Fantastic stuff. I've kind of been on a binge on them for a month now.

Sure, they're post 1990 output has been pretty sad, but the earlier stuff, particularly the 1970's stuff kicks! :hotjump:

I think I am the only person in the world but my favourite Scorp's album is Savage Amusement simply because Passion Rules The Game and Rhythm Of Love are the 2 best songs they ever wrote.

Well, to be honest in the mid-80's (I graduated HS in 1985) I thought "Love at First Sting" was borderline too commercial so when Savage Amusement and Crazy World came out I totally thought they were way too commercial. And the radio so overplayed "Winds of Change" I never wanted to hear it again.

<time passes>

I ignore the band for bloody 15 years thereafter, except for my well worn cassette of Blackout, and then come back to them.

A buddy loaned me his copies of Savage Amusement and Crazy World and to my surprise I liked them better than I remembered. The production is a bit slick, but the song writing is solid and Matthias Jabs can play excellent leads. To some extent, Jabs hasn't gotten the critical acclaim of Michael Schenker and Uli Roth but the Jabs era albums have some great lead work too.

Hell, even "Winds of Change" is a good composition.

Hmm I didn't know there were any scorpion fans left in this world. I'm glad there is though! Unfortunately I'm not one of them, but you go ahead =)

Present! We hads discuss them in one of Hawk's treads about classic albums.

My faves are:

1) "Taken By Force"
2) "In Trance"
2) "Virgin Killer"
3) "Fly To The Rainbow"
4) "Lovedrive"
5) "Animal Magnetism"

I didn't follow the band after they release "Blackout" I have a compilation and two tributes, I like more thier 70's work especially with Uli Jon Roth.

I love those mothers, I just got the Box of Scorpions set & will be looking into getting their new one next week. There's been a couple people on here praising that disc...I have seen them three times & with year gaps in between each time I saw them. I have to tell you that they don't lose any of their energy with age. They Simply kick ass!

Eye II Eye is supposed to suck, though.

Still, I'd LOVE to see them live.
Eye II Eye the record was horrible, the tour's set list wasn't bad at all. They did play two tracks off Eye II Eye, Mind Like a Tree & Mysterious...
I doubt anything off that record is on the setlist anymore...
You know a song that's killer, but came off a turd of a record? You & I. Love that track. It's a ballad, but it's got a backbone to it...

The new one kinda picks up where Savage Amusement left off, but I don't think it's as good. I love SA tho' I wouldn't go quite as far as Trixxi.
