I was a vegetarian for 4 years, but quit in order to start body building. I'll probably go vegan once my budget allows me to afford extreme amounts of protein to make up for it.

I love when american/canadian/westerners tries to fuck with how other cultures decide to harvest their food, while we slaughter chickens/cows/pigs/salmon/crab/etc etc etc etc wholesale in giant factories. In the words of Ted Fucking Nugent:

And I say this as an animal lover, I understand that they're hearts may be in the right place (maybe), just like many other type of activist groups...but their tactics for doing things just makes them look like militant, idiotic nutcases that only serves to alienate them further. When the Japanese ship rammed them, I actually cheered for the Japanese. Those people cross the line so far, to quote Joey from Friends, to them "the line is a blur".

I'm not an environmentalist by any stretch of the imagination. Animals taste great.

However, there's a moratorium on hunting whales for a reason. The Japanese use the excuse of "scientific research" to hunt whales, and then sell the meat on the open market.

Now, I've always thought the Japanese to be precise and efficient. I'm just curious as to why, after all these years, they still need to research the contents of a whale's stomach, or it's body weight. I think the relevant data has already been gathered.

I hope Sea Shepherd gives them hell this year, especially after they were rammed last year.

Also: the comment about cultures is not quite true. Sea Shepherd has Japanese crew members.

Probably true. I was talking more on a grand scale and not so much specifically about the Sea Shepard.

You're right. Anyway, this is not the case but the protected status of the whales and the countries that are ignoring international agreements.

On topic, just let anybody do this with any world's species that are on the brink of extinction. It's time for anybody to do something before it's too late and the reasoning "he looks like a prick" seems to be quite irrelevant here to be honest. I don't really care if he enjoys the media part or whatever, they're doing a necessary job that nobody else does.
