Searching for the search function

I thought that the search function on UM was just down for a while for some
sort of maintenance/update? I guess now it will no longer be available?
I know it can slow things down on a site but I would give up the speed for
having the use of it -
Maybe other forum members feel the same way?

It's deleted yeah, though the announcement said that it would be brought back when possible. Hope so. I PM'd Deron so that he would find a thread for me since I can't do it myself now, no answer so far.
So yes, I feel much the same way. The forum is pretty slow anyway, so who cares.

It's definitely not a search function, but something to work on if your memory is good enough to remember the thread title and when the discussion took place.

i do. and the site's performance didn't even get any better since the search function was removed. i can't find any other online community as big as this one (or at least as big as this one once was) that survives without a search function.

@hitori: in his defense there is the fact that since the search function was first taken down, it got back up for a while, apparently matching metalages' claim that its removal would be "temporary". then of course it's been taken down again without a word, and one may be left to wonder.

i'm not sure i understand what you are referring to. if you're talking about the "search" option at the top of the page (black bar with "user CP" etc), it works for me, and it also did in the recent past - i don't recall when my last search before today was, but it must have been about 5 days ago and there was no problem.

when i'm not logged in, the search button is at the far right of the control bar just below the forum/thread title. when i log in, the buttons - from left to right - are: user cp, faq, members list, calendar, quick links, log out. no search function.

i swear it's here (i'm logged in). it works. i use mozilla firefox, maybe that's the issue?

edit: no, it's not. i'm currently using IE and my black bar has the following, l to r: user CP, FAQ, Members List, Calendar, New Posts, Search (expandable), Quick Links (expandable), Log Out.

Im so fucking sick of this site, no search again, it fails every other fucking day and even when its "working" is slow as fuck ( and no is not me other forums fly on my connection ) its taking you too fucking long to move out of this shithole guys.
