Send client Recto or MK4 version?

We tracked this with the recto but when I mixed it I thought it could benefit from the tightness of the MK4.

Which do you prefer?

I like the recto one better. Fits in the mix better and sounds heavier.

The MK4 seems to have good attack in the mix but over all seems too aggressive in the treble maybe slightly harsh where the Recto has a warmer sound that gels to the mix and definitely sounded better on its own in the intro.

Maybe with some tweaking the MK4 would work or if you quad tracked try both blended.

blend 'em! speaking of, maybe you could blend in another sample with that snare. it's sounds pretty 'garbage can' atm.

I like the Recto one better, the MK4 sounds a little bit too fizzy.

MK4 was too harsh for sure.
I swapped out the outside pair of 6L6s for EL34s and switched to harmonic rather than mid gain mode and the amp sounds far better now.
Big difference in the low mids and the treble spike is gone. Real LOG sound now.

Yeah.
I set it from scratch with the EL34s in.
The treble spike is now completely gone!
I read that the LOG guys have 6L6 inner pair and EL34 outer pair in their MK4s.
I had to keep the presence low with 4 6L6s in but can crank it with the mixed valves in.
I was really happy with this amp before but now it's totally amazing.
