SHADOWS FALL's BRIAN FAIR:
After a string of headlining shows, SHADOWS FALL will make their Ozzfest debut this Saturday, June 28 in San Antonio TX. Unfortunately, the trip down to Texas was not that easy, and Brain Fair (vocals) goes onto describe the whole frightening experience. "When the tour began, we had a screw up with the bus company and ended up on a different bus," he explained. "This was all well and good until at around 9 AM on Sunday, the front passenger side wheel decided to fly off the bus while we were going 70 MPH!!!! When I say flew off I mean the whole fuckin' wheel flew off and rolled into the median strip!!! We should have died!! The axle dug a rut about a 100 feet long in the highway before we came to a stop. Our driver Ray saved our lives. Since it was Sunday, we had a hell of a time renting a truck or van anywhere. All we could find was a caravan to carry the people and a 24-foot Ryder truck to pull the trailer.

"Now, if you have ever driven a truck that large, you know how insane it can be. Now imagine driving it while pulling a 12-foot trailer through the mountains of Tennessee!!! It was chaos!!! Guess who was the lucky driver? Me of course!! Things were rolling along smoothly until late at night while cruising through the mountains when the trailer suddenly popped off the ball on the hitch and slammed into the back of the truck!! The chains held it on and I was able to skid into the break down lane. Chaos!! We finally made it to Nashville at 3 AM and unfortunately missed the show. To all of fans in Nashville and the area, we are very sorry we didn't make it, but there was no way we could have. It is amazing we dint die!! We will make it up to you this Fall."

No offense, but I don't really care for this band.
Everyone's raves about it, in fact Chuck listened to it & really like their new one The Art Of Balance, & Jon Allen asked me to burn him a copy(gave it to him today), I think it's one of the better US acts out there now. They remind me of an old & good thrash band, with modern Death Vocals.........Try it again TL......
you just got MF taste in your mouth.....................:loco:...........:D.....Can hardly wait to see them at the OzzFest, on July 8th..............:Spin:

Art of Balance is probably (IMO!!) the worst album I bought in 2002 (Reroute to Remain is close though..). THe problem I have with it is that the songs just have no cohesion. They simply dont go anywhere... seem to me to be a string of unrelated riffs with no centralized melody or anything like that to hold them together. Just random (albiet pretty cool) riffs. Kinda boring.

I dont get much out of it, and feel like I'm wasting my time listening to it. Oh well. Time to put on Solefald's new In Harmonia Universali. :D

I really don't care for them myself. I think they're kind of generic..... Chimaira is worse though, I think they sound like Shadows Fall clones on their new one. Its a big step up though for a band who's last album was Jump the Fuck Up.

I like the Art of Balance. It's a fun cd to listen to, granted...it's not real deep, but it's just a good one to pop in when you feel like hearing some good straight forward metal with a lot of old school influence.

Shadows Fall are fucking solid. I've never read an interview w/the band, but I'd be willing to bet that most of their musical influences came from old American thrash metal bands and newer European death metal bands.

One of the guitarists said in an interview that Eric Peterson was an influence on him...

still, I just don't dig the the singer.

No worries. I know what you mean. Bands like Iced Earth and Nevermore are awesome, but the 80's vocals make it tough to listen to for me. It's sorta ironic I guess since I can listen all day to the gutteral growls and high pitch schrills in death and black metal. ;)

Actually, I LOVE metal singers from the 80's, and I don't give a shit if people think I'm stuck in the past (a big FUCK YOU to the person who called my taste NARROW-MINDED). Most of my faves are from the 80's (a few from the 70's).

The singer of Shadows Fall is a kid, and I don't care for his harsh vocals. That's not singing to me.

Chuck Billy is the BEST thrash metal singer, END OF STORY.

In a Shadows Fall Live performance(Destoyer Of Senses)video, on their AOB bonus disc, the guitar player is wearing a Testament shirt(Return To The Apoc. City).........ya your more into guitar players, & like being played.....:D.....you should give them more chances, you'd be surprised how it catches on.......I had to give it a few trial runs before I got hooked on it! TL.........is being BH'd!

Chuck is in a class of his own when it comes to metal singers. Ya, I definately agree...but he was a kid once too. ;)
