I've got 3 awesome sounding 2Ch Rectos...all of them are recs I won't be able to get get that easily again (blackface dual rectos, schumacher trannies etc).
I'm thinking about selling one to afford an US made SVT4 Pro.....
wouldn't hurt to have an Ampeg in the studio I guess?
but still, I hate selling one of my beloved Rectos (and Yes Emdprodukt, if this one goes it'll be yours ;) )

If you're getting rid of one, get an SVT Classic. The SVT4's are good, but not as good the Classic's.

No. God no! The svt4 is rubbish. Better tones out of a sansamp bddi!
The only good ampeg is a classic. The rest are distinctly average, and certainly not worth giving up a 2 chan recto over!!

US made classics are hard to find for a decent price.
the SVT4Pro I'm looking at atm is US made

My old bass player had the SVT4.. wasn't USA made. Was pretty average.

Mate in another band has an SVT Classic (don't think it was USA made either) and it shat all over it from a great height.

Regardless of US made or not, I'd still get a Classic. As greyskull said, not worth selling a 2ch Recto for.

I've mixed about 100 gigs where they bass players have used some sort of Ampeg amp and honestly, almost any of the Ampegs (SVT3, SVT4, Classic, any of the BA-comboseries amps) disregarding the cabinet; 1x15", 4x10", 6x10", 4x10"+1x15" or 8x10"; isn't anything super special. Personally I like Mesa Big Block and EBS (I forgot the model name, but I think it was Fafner?) a lot more than the Ampeg. But the Classic is definitely one of the best sounding of the Ampegs.

come on guys, just say that the ampeg is great, Oli (Emdprodukt) is waiting for the Recto so long :D

But for real, there are way better bassamps than that Ampeg out there...sorry Oli

Lasse the m3, m6 and m9 carbine is bad as shit and also the m-pulse 600 mesa bass amp is also a winner. the titan v-12 is kinda shitty in my opinion and the big block 750 isnt to bad. But out of all the mesa bass amp's i have tried the carbine's and the m-pulse 600 remain my fav's of the line. Also the 400+ is good to but a fucking money hog to retube!!! 12 fucking power amp tubes

I've never been impressed with SVTs personally. Carbine is good but the big block is better IMO. I have a fairly broken one that I'm trying to sell if you want it for cheap. I personally use a thunderverb 200 for my bass rig now. That's it. It literally blows your bollocks off.

Im going to agree with Amarshism, David Eden gear absolutely kills it. I've got a Traveler 550 and it's amazing. Their all tube head is fantastic, but a little expensive!
