Shitty fourth generation dubded tapes were my means of discovering every band that mattered prior to turning 18. Then I began hating on magnetic media something fierce. Still, part of me refuses to leave my old dual deck unit behind. If it stays, then I can't create new "click" ridden splices of Death metal and Devo.
Plus, the unit itself sort of epitomizes the penchant for pointless techno purchasing that made my youth so pleasant. We had two Colecovisions because it was an untrustworthy unit, but the most powerful such thing on the market. I nearly went blind in my teens from trying to figure out just what made the Virtual Boy awesome enough to justify Nintendo's hype. And this multi-disc changer equipped stereo was bought by my brother who to my knowledge has sat through one non-Weird Al full length in his entire life.
So should I keep the unit and why?
