Hey all, I know there are some fans of my Shreddage kontakt libraries on here so I thought I would share the newest instrument in that series... Shreddage 2 IBZ:

http://impactsoundworks.com/products/guitar-and-bass/shreddage-2-ibz/

This is a deep sampled Ibanez RG7421 which is hugely different in tone to the original Shreddage 2, which was a Musicman JP12 7-string. It's got all the crucial playing styles and techniques with up to 8x RR (4 up 4 down) per note and 6 palm mute layers, and over 13,000 samples total compared to ~8000 from Shreddage 2.

More importantly I spent a LOT of time redoing the entire script from the ground up and adding things like economy picking mode, much more realistic fret/string behavior, better slides, and more tweaking options. You can visually see your preferred fret range right on the fretboard now and adjust or even automate it.

You can check out our demo player here. I think its our best virtual guitar yet.

Shreddage 2 IBZ is $99 for S2 owners and $119 for new users, and it does work with Kontakt Player. Let me know what you think!

This is really cool! Will you be uploading play-alongs of this one, too?

Is this more CPU consuming? I'm guessing it must take up more RAM.

Did you rewrite the script to make it more efficient in any way? (lighter)
I've always found this kind of instruments to be quite heavy in terms of resources - especially if you're loading up more than one instance (instrument) per project

Thanks man. There are now two videos on the library page showing song playthroughs in some form, the newest video actually compares the same exact MIDI data + song with the original Shreddage2 vs IBZ for a tone comparison. Here's that one:

Resource usage - Shreddage2 with all articulations is 1.27gb in RAM. Heavy but you can add multiple instances w/o using more RAM. IBZ is more optimized there since we have a 16bit version instead of just 24bit audio - only 1gb for all articulations. If you disable stuff you don't need it will get lower.

CPU is fine on my i7 system, it uses a few % of a core for every note. Since each sustained note is up to about 30 seconds Kontakt has to do a little work to stream it from the disk. But usually you're not playing a ton of simultaneous notes, so the polyphony + strain doesn't get too bad.
