Sia - Chandelier goes Metal \m/

I dunno man, I'm sorry to sound harsh, but the original sets a *really* high standard for the vocal performance...it's not nearly at the level it needed to be to be convincing.
It's not shitty, but it doesn't come anywhere near where it should be.

I don't agree Arsenu. The original performance is incredible. No matter what people think of artists like rihanna, kesha, ad others, when you put them in front of a mike they actually perform incredibly. I don't see a lot of metal artists produce what Lady Gaga can produce live in front of 40k people.

PS : this does not apply for Britney Spears

Performance-wise of course. Sia is a great vocalist. But excuse me, the bridge goes, and i quote: "1 2 3 1 2 3 drink". I can't take a song containing that kind of crap seriously.

Kesha? Really? I mean she has a couple of cool songs ("blow" is one of my guilty pleasures) but she's not even close to what I consider "incredible performer". Britney Spears is way better.

Britney spears does not even perform, she lip-syncs more than she sings live ! She does have a strong vocal personality, but she does not perform anymore like she might have done in the past.

Kesha was just a random example. The first result on youtube for "kesha live" just shows how we under-rate these commercial singers performances. Producers don't bet so much money on the average downtown singer. They have people tracking down artists for months before they find one. Lady Gaga was found during one of those campains to find the next potential superstar, and I honestly she's great.

I know very few metal singers that could produce what she or other singers (like Jessie J Gaga or even Rihanna) produce, with the shows they have, with the contraints they have. Whatever I think of their music, I also think they have a clear talent and voice control, and most importantly, a very definite vocal personality. I mean Rihanna sounds so unique. It's too easy to bash them just because they sing commercial music in a super-edited environment.

Just to be clear, I didn't really bash any of them. But if we're talking strictly about vocal performance then Kesha is average at best. Britney Spears has (or had, if you prefer) a pretty decent voice.

I know very few metal singers, period. Most of what nowadays passes as singing in metal is screaming and growling.

Having said that, the comparison is totally unfair. These singers are having loads of money thrown at them. Also the majority of them don't really "produce" anything, they have other people do it for them.

Also, they're really hot. Let's not pretend that is not a requirement :)
