This thread reminded me of a book I have. When I was working within the eldercare during the summer two years ago there was a lady who was 92 or thereabouts, a completly senile dement person who spent the days saying "lalala" and chewing her own toungue. Anyway she died during my time there and she had no close relatives alive so her less valuble possessions were left at the old folk's home and among those things were a certain book which I managed to get my hands on, namely this one:
The titles says "Introduction to current subjects (Gaston Backman) The Human Races and Modern Race Problems". And judging by it's condition she seems to have read it more than one time. I've yet to read it myself but plan on doing so pretty soon, I think this is a fascinating historical document about a really amusing branch of "science". It tells of certain "race smells", head mesurements (phrenology) and caracteristics of the races. Sweden was at the forefront of racial research in the twenties with a major institute in Uppsala, I guess most books of this kind were hidden away or discarded after the war, so I feel pretty fortunate having one. What's also pretty cool is that this book was released by one today's largest book firms in Sweden.
Hm spaffe, I thought all that genetic racism 'science' was proven to be totally irrelevant by DNA etc? I would think cultural racism would be far more applicable.
Nah, scientifically/genetically, there are definitely many differences between the races and I am way too fucking lazy to go and find the references, but to my knowledge, it is definitely proven.
I thought all humans were 99% the same concerning DNA? I went to some lecture years ago, that's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject. Actually, it might've been a homo lecture. I don't fuckin' remember.
