single recto question

back then, when i bought my single rectifier, i compared it with a triple rectifier (both of the new series) - at home, so not under bad circumstances in the shop... i found the triple had slightly more extralow basspunch, but for me it wasn't worth the higher price.
on the other hand: you are living in the US, for you mesas are pretty cheap - lucky you!

From my experience the recto rack setup crushes all the heads for heavyness, even the dual channels (all tubescreamed of course).

Lol, is not me dude, but always someone came with this, and questions will be asked once again, so im glad to read topics like this because i learn more and more, there is always some guy with time and patience who can answer this quiestions, thats the coolness of this forum.

im curious about the diference in rectos too

Singles have just a lil less bottom. As far as heaviness though... well, any recto is gonna sound crushing so... I dunno, I own a single and am pretty happy with it.

Well, I had a Single Rectifier for over a year and I recently got myself a brand new 3channel Triple Rectifier.

I must say, I nearly crapped my pants the first time I got to play through the Triple, it sounded so dominating and aggressive, every palm mute was a kick in my stomach, yet it sounded smooth and very articulate.

The Triple really has A LOT more low end and the highs are smoother. There is a big difference when it comes to tone. The Triple has a tight, yet huge low end, but it keeps it together even at low tunings. You can really feel the palm muted riffs, and I never turn the bass above 11o'clock.
Fat, smooth yet very articulate and tight. And these differences are not about the volume increase!

And of course the Triple is a lot more versatile, since you have three channels, you can use tube or diode rectification, the spongy/bold mode etc.

The Single has this thinner, grittier tone to it. It sounded harsh. It didn't have nearly as much low end as the Triple. The Single is a good amp, but it sounds very different to when compared to the Triple.

can't agree with you here, sorry.
i compared them with a jackson usa soloist (80ies custom shop btw) with EMGs, tuned to A, the amps running through a mesa 4x12 rectifier cab.
there was a difference to hear, but i'd have to lie when saying it was a big difference.

anyways... buy the amp you love most. :)

yours is not bad either. :)

btw: it is gemma hayes - just in case one didn't recognize her on 100 squarepixels. :D

Well, maybe there was something wrong with my Single. I had it retubed, but it still sounded harsh and thin. I tried them both through my Orange PPC412 cab. I used a couple of different guitars, a Schecter Hellraiser C-7 (EMG 707's) and a Carvin DC727(stock Carvin PU's) both in standard 7-string tuning (B-E)

But like I said, maybe there was something wrong with my Single, since the Triple sounds so much better than it did, so who knows...

But as you said, in the end it all comes down to what you like :)
