Singles??

Trust me, living here in the States when it happened, no one gave a god damned about Joey, fans who were making Megadeth, Pantera, White Zombie, Slayer, and Testament go gold at that time in that milieu were like "about god damned time they got a real singer." I saw White Zombie on the last night of thier tour opening for Megadeth/Pantera, and they asked the crowd which Anthrax they liked better. 7,000 people resounding gave SoWN a rip roar of approval. Plus changing lead singers generated alot of press that SoWN may not have gotten. Believe me dude, no one a rat's ass about Joey.

If it's like you're saying, and I can't see any reason not to believe you, then I guess the metal fans are smarter than I thought, no offense. I always thought metal community had turned their backs to Anthrax after Joey had left.

AC/DC and Van Halen come to mind. Anthrax were bound to slip up. What you're missing is the fact that
A) Anthrax peaked in 1987/88,
B) Metal as a whole died down in 1994/1995, and if you think Joey Belladonna was gonna keep Anthrax selling like Pantera and Megadeth, you're on crack.

The whole industry turned it's back on metal dude. If you think Anthrax keeping Joey would've kept them in the limelight, I think you're a loon. If anything, Anthrax would be in about 10x worse shape than they are right now, because Joey was the joke of the metal world.

I'm with bRaT.
They need to get exposed.

I also think they wouldn't have sold more records with Joey.
With John in the band they sound more complete, and well rounded.
Too true.
And this 'selling out' thing..Anthrax write cool songs, if more people get to hear them, then surely it is a good thing?
Maybe then at least they'll release the "Killer A's" DVD in europe and tour here more often.
GOOD MUSIC SHOULD BE LISTENED TO BY EVERY ONE!!!;)

Don't get me wrong...when I made the comment about selling out, that's not what I think of them. But let's face it, Anthrax hasn't exactly been enjoying a positive image with many people outside of this board, and there are lots of people that don't even realize that Anthrax are still around (sad, but true).

Now if the first thing these people, including former fans from earlier eras, hear on the radio is Safe Home, I don't think it's going to win them back.

I do want Anthrax to have as much exposure as possible. However, more closed minded people will base their opinions on one song that they hear on the radio, and I don't think that Safe Home is representative of the best that Anthrax can be.

That said, if radio stations actually do play the song, I may just have to consider listening to the radio again...something that I haven't willingly done in a decade.

I am not a big fan of the high pitched vibrato 80's metal singing. Because alot of the time it just sounds weak. But there are those that can sing and sing well. Like James Labree, Bruce Dickenson, and R J Dio. Joey wasn't a very good singer. And for the style that Anthrax was joey didn't fit in most songs.
I realy hope they get radio play. I'm going to try hard e-mailing and calling in. If we can just get goddamned CLear Channel to like Anthrax then they are good for life.

we will never find out now will we td,dont take other peoples opinions personally, everyone is entitled to there own opinion, its a known fact metalheads dont like change, scott ian said that himself,i am glad john is in the band because i know they would have self distructed by now,me saying sown woulda have sold 5 million is very optimistic but i was trying to make a point hat its very hard to march on after a change of singer,2 bands u mentioned, what about all the ones that failed miserably.

that is a very long list

we'll leave it at that shall we lease dont quote me again lol,u know the point i was trying to make

weve come for you all 2003

I have an experience in the place where I live. I should say that among metal/rock fans, Anthrax is still pretty familiar name. Mostly the old metalheads would say that Anthrax was better in Joey era and they don't care about it anymore. What is cool that there are younger kids who discovered Anthrax with SOWN or later and don't know that something was there before. I know lots of them. Every time I turn up some new Anthrax song, like Inside Out, Nothing or Catharsis for instance, and let listen someone who hasn't known of them before, he just would say, dude, it kicks ass! who's that? After saying Anthrax, the one would almost always say, hmmm, strange, I always thought Anthrax was some gay ass 80's metal! Therefore I think Safe Home is a good radio song.
