I cant wait, I am off to see Skid Row tonight, VERY small venue, so should be a close intimate gig.

I know they are not the same as they were with Seb bach, but you know a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do.


I have not seen the band since the slave to the grind tour in 1991, that was at Birminghams NEC.
I got my tickets on tuesday and they are numbered 64, 65 and 66!!!!

What a show!!!!!!

SkidRow in a club that doesn't even hold 300 people in the stage area!
Talk about intimate, the guys were posing mid song for photos!

I must say this, and it pains me to say it, I love seb bach, he was to me the ultimate frontman....but he was not so good at singing live, Johnny solinger kicks fucking ass, the guy is a great live singer.

From what I remember the set list included:

Piece of me
18 and life
slave to the grind
Monkey business
get the fuck out
big guns
sweet little sister
I remember you
psycho therapy (sung by rachel bolan)
Youth gone wild
a very short rendition with snake playing a few bars of sweet home alabama for johhny solinger and the crowd singing it....dunno why johnny is from Texas lol.

Man I have not rocked my ass so much since i was a kid. The energy from the band went up and up as the crowd responded and they were truelly blown away. They could not believe the crowd everyone front to back was rocking, bouncing, singing. Watch out for Scotti hill, the guys never missed a note while pulling faces and smoking for the crowd. Also the new drummer is damned good too.

All in all a fantastic night.

Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a fucking show that was!! I arrived in Glasgow around half 6 and headed to the venue. Never been there before so I wasn't entirely sure where it was. Walked the entire length of Sauchiehall Street and eventually found it at the very end and joined the queue just as it started to piss down with rain. Wonderful! So about half an hour later I get in and go and have a drink before the bands start. I didn't have to wait long before the first band came on. They were called Victorious and they were brilliant!!! The singer looked like a young James Hetfield, he even sang like him and his stage manners were pure Hetfield! He should have been playing the white explorer, not the other guitarist!! They were fab and even did a cover of Iron Maiden's Wrathchild. So off they go and then the next band's stuff is getting set up. Seeing them wandering about the stage before hand, I knew they were going to be utter shite cos they looked like a cross between My Chemical Romance and the Misfits. Total emos! And I was right! Man, I don't think I've ever seen a worse support act! I have to give them some kudos cos they were very energetic and into it, but their music was diabolical! The singer's voice was 1000% times whiner than Gerard Way's if that is actually possible!!! If a Glasgow crowd doesn't like you then they will let you know and boy did they let these guys know. I felt kinda sorry for them cos it must be horrible to have people shouting crap at you when you're doing your best. That's why I always nod along and clap a support band no matter how shit I think they are. It's only polite cos they're trying their best. So eventually they went off and everything got set up for the main event. The lights dimmed and the Ramones' Blitzkrieg Bop blasted out over the speakers. Everyone was singing along, especially on the "Hey ho! Let's go!" part. Then the guys run onstage and straight into Makin' A Mess. I was disappointed to see that Snake wasn't there but as Johnny explained later on in the set, he was in jail!! Oh dear!! Haha! They'd got Ryan Cook from Hair Of The Dog to fill in for him instead. I tell you, Johnny's so much better than Sebastian Bach ever was live!!! He had great banter with the crowd in between songs and kept calling us "crazy Scottish fuckers". About halfway through the set Rachel took to the mic and was telling us how honoured he was that we'd come to see them when his idol The Sex Pistols were playing on the same night. He thought it was great how many different bands we were all into and started reading band names off shirts. He couldn't see what was on mine and said to me, "What's on your shirt? I can't see." so I moved my bag strap and camera and yelled "GUNS N' ROSES!!" all the while thinking, "OH MY GOD!! RACHEL BOLAN JUST SPOKE TO ME!!! ARGH!!!" After that they went into the Ramones' Psycho Therapy. The acoustic rendition of I Remember You was such a highlight for me. The crowd were SO loud!!! Johnny just stuck the mic out for most of the song and we all sang along. Gave me goosebumps!!! Ryan threw out his plectrum and me and this other guy both went for it. We had a bit of a scramble but he got to it before me, I patted him on the back and said well done mate, then he smiled and handed me it. That was so sweet of him!! So I thanked him loads and gave him a big hug. Another highlight for me was when Johnny was talking about how much the UK loved rock and metal, that we shouldn't care what anyone thought and "if anyone has a problem with that tell them to GET THE FUCK OUT!!" Holy shit I went crazy when they played that and I really hurt my throat screaming every word!!! They did a short little punk song which they said was just for Scotland but I haven't a clue what the hell it was!!! The last song was of course Youth Gone Wild which had the crowd bouncing off the ceiling!!! The band was so good and the crowd loved it!! When the band was throwing out plecs and drumsticks, Rachel threw his towel out - straight into my hand!!! Score! I've never had one of those before!! I had a fantastic time and would definitely go back and see them again!! From what I can remember they played Makin' A Mess, Sweet Little Sister, Monkey Business, Big Guns, Slave To The Grind, 18 & Life, Piece Of Me, I Remember You, Get The Fuck Out, Psycho Therapy, Disease and Youth Gone Wild.
All I can say is, Sebastian who???

I'm gonna get so much shit for this, but compared to that show, iron maiden live is shite!!!!

When I saw maiden on the brave new world tour, the security were total cocks, kept assaulting the fans for standing too close to the barriers at the side and stuff.

At this place (skid Row) it was all about having fun!


There wa sonly one support band in Middlesbrough, that was Sign. they were pretty cool although a bit weird with the makeup. Were not Emo though.

I like Snake he is a great guitar player. He was at the DOWN show in Phoenix hanging out with Phil Anselmo by the sound board.

A small show where the crowd is not assaulted by "security" because they inadvertently stood inside the 3 metre unmarked permiter around the SIDES of the standing area. Is better than the big arena shows that iron maiden put on. I havent seen maiden since brave new world tour, I have friends that vowed after the last tour they wouldnt waste their money, and these are people that even bought the albums with Blaize singing!!!

All I am saying is that I have seen bands like Iron maiden, Kiss, Guns and roses, metallica, megadeth, alice cooper, pantera, sepultura, Aerosmith Plant and page, green day, smashing pumpkins, Marilyn manson, offspring, Paradise Lost, fait no more, soundgarden.....need I go on? All at big venues, and they did not rock as much as Skid row with Johnny Solinger. I saw Skid Row back in 1992 and heard Seb bach singing then, I saw Bach with Guns and Roses last year and he was still shite at singing live. I enjoyed Skid Row more last Firday than ANY other show bar one. And thats probably by a band that are so small you wont have heard of them.....the WiLDHEARTS.

To put it bluntly, Iron maiden live shows are not that energetic anymore, I really am going right of the maiden, I dont feel they have produced a great album since Seventh Son. Yes they have had albums with good songs on since, but never a great album.

I guess if Maiden played in a club with up to 300 people in it, then it may feel different, but that aint really going to happen is it?
Its also why I take my hat off to the good ladies of the iron maidens, for playing clubs and bringing good quality musicianship and great iron maiden songs to the smaller clubs, where you can jump around and behave like a kid and have FUN.

No way, how on earth did you find your way here??? You guys kicked ass!! I was on your side as well, 2nd row. I was really wanting one of your cd's but you'd run out by the time you came off stage. I was gonna go look for one at the merch booth but it was all shut up after the band's had finished.

I just got my Megadeth ticket through the post today! That'd be great if you could get a support slot with them. I saw your singer wearing an (I think) Arsenal Of Megadeth shirt during Skid Row and was laughing to myself as it looked like Hetfield in a Megadeth shirt!!

No he is not the same, but then the musical direction of Skid Row is not the same either.

I thought he sang the old skid row songs very well live, and could easily compare him with seb bach live, as I saw Seb with Guns and roses in 2006. He is not the same caliber of frontman, he does a very very good job though.

And for the record I am still a fan of Seb bach, but just thought johnny solinger did a great job at the gig.
