According to The Pulse Of Radio, SKILLET has always made music a family affair, with frontman John Cooper and his wife, keyboardist Korey Cooper, bringing their kids on the road for several years now. But the Coopers expanded on that recently by including both their son and daughter on their latest album, "Rise". John Cooper told Loudwire how that came out, explaining, "We were putting together these interludes, because we wanted to tell a story, and I thought the songs went really well together. I was trying to figure out what to do between these songs. In my house we have a workout/studio room. I was on the treadmill and my wife and daughter walked in. My daughter was holding a microphone. I asked what they were doing, and my wife said she had an idea. It turned out really, really well. It was something we weren't planning on." Asked how his daughter felt hearing herself on the record, Cooper said, "She thinks it's really cool. Of course that meant we had to get my son in there somewhere, too, because he was really excited." Cooper told The Pulse Of Radio that he enjoys seeing SKILLET fans now bringing their kids to the band's shows. "It's very cool to go to a concert and just see a dad with his 12-year-old son, and they're both rocking out to SKILLET because their dad bought our first record when he was in high school or whatever," he said. "You go to a BON JOVI show or a NICKELBACK show, AEROSMITH, that's what you see — you see generations of fans. And SKILLET is still, you know, quite young, but we have those generations. I think that that's really awesome." "Rise", SKILLET's ninth studio album, is also the group's first concept record. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart back in June and features the singles "Sick Of It" and "Not Gonna Die". SKILLET is currently on the Carnival Of Madness tour with SHINEDOWN and other acts, with the trek stopping in Morrison, Colorado on Tuesday (September 10) and winding down in Puyallup, Washington on September 18. The quartet will then head out on a month-long European tour as openers for NICKELBACK beginning in late October, with Russian dates penciled in for December.
