Skillet

I first heard of Skillet literally 13 years ago. Their debut self-titled cd was released when I was 16 and was basically the Nirvana of the Christian rock scene. Pure raw energy wrapped in good 90's hard rock. I remember loving that album more than anything else at the time. Finally a few months later I got to see them live and it was one of those "magical" memories from the teen years. Their second cd wasn't the same since they had already started moving in a different direction. Fast-forward to a week ago when I'm randomly giving the radio another chance, flipping through channels, and I hear their name on the hard rock station. I lul'd a little. Just like Chevelle, P.O.D., Flyleaf, Evanescence, and others who've existed in the Christian market for years but no one cared until they're mainstream.

Long story short, yeah I like Skillet. Good band. Check out their first cd. :)

This is from their second CD, "Hey, You, I Love Your Soul"

My love for Skillet ends there.

It is catchy in its own poppy sort of way but overall doesn't really bring anything new or interesting to the table. As an aside, the name Skillet had me expecting some kind of goofball style of music. I was surprised to hear that a band with a cooking implement for a name was this style, haha.

Anyway, it's not terrible, but meh.

I know, I know...if the people aren't swinging spiked bats and drinking goat's blood, then it isn't worthy to you and Palabra.:p
Exactly...

And the irony is, he probably would have actually hit the folks from Skillet with that bat. :hypno:

Wow, I never thought I'd see a Skillet thread on a power/prog forum :goggly:

Anyway, I'm a casual fan of the genre and I know a few Skillet songs. My favorite is Savior - love the ending especially.

sh0kr0k, it was interesting to hear their older stuff, which I'd never heard. Didn't do much for me, though, except for Locked In A Cage.
