you make a great point kass, and as soon as you said that, I actually went into a song i was doing and brought down the crash velocities and it sounded way better. When I was sampling my crashes, I had the guys really bash the shit out of them for the top velocities, whereas in a real scenario they'd be hitting a lot less. You can also eq the crash to make it a bit sizzlier, 12khz boost, 1khz cut, 300 Hi Pass is a good starting point.
