slate kick 10 processing

Lol 006

Eternally_gutted, almost all slate kicks already feature a lot of low end on them, most of the time much more than needed. I can't understand what you mean by width... you mean depth? You can try as someone has already suggested applying a reverb but carefully eqing it so it would act on the desired frequencies and to not mud your mix... although I rarely use reverb on kicks... I really can't understand your question..

Ah width, try a limiter too, parallel compression, blend with another kick. Reverb is good to obtain width. I dont use in kicks but you can try to add a little reverb.

thanks, i´ll try those tips. what settings could i begin with the limiter?
i´d like to learn more things.

^ Exactly, there is no way that 100 and 127 sound the same

mmm, when i load drumagog with my kick10, kick has different group samples in gog file (hard, medium, soft...) -> yes, LOGIC...
and then, when i put 127, drumagog play hard samples and, with 100, drumagog play hard samples too. only volumen difference.

Its subjective, I cant give you numbers. You have to try for yourself and see whats the better settings for your mix and what suits better. Mess with the settings without exagerate.

I want to change the tuning on the snare.. but I dont know how to check the tuning :( Vst tuners dont work.

Kick 10 is officially the most overused sample in the history of this forum.

(...waits for post about how to process SNR 12A)

=D

DUDESSSSSSS, trying BLENDING the Slate Kicks with OTHER SAMPLES to get what you need. Being creative High/Low Pass and all that. Works wonders.

!!!!
although I've always wondered why everyone here is using sn12(a), there are some much better Slate-snares for metal.
then I found out that Joey some time ago mentioned he's using sn12 and ki10......and it all became clear....one real world engineer mentiones he used these samples and everyone on the forum from then on uses the same ones without thinking ;)

And no, I'm not gonna tell which ones I like best....cause it changes from project to project, depending on what the overall picture needs and how the mic'd drumkit sounds......but so far it was never sn12 ;)
there are actually 2 that sound almost exactly like sn12a, just less muffled and with more crack.

Yeah, but i had to write it .:)

By the way, i don't have the SSD so i can't help you. But it's already a mixed sample i think, so you just need to polish it a bit.
If it doesn't work, pick another sample. There are many samples/kit if i know correctly.
