I don't know if anyone is really interested in this legendary heavy metal band from Chicago.

I open this thread not only because I had the honour to watch them live last Saturday, but because the guys are working on a new album! We also had the chance to listen to a new song of them, beside their classics, and I post it here.

Wow! I knew they were active but didn´t know they worked on a new album but I think they have to wait until 2011 to fill the "classic" 13 years gap between albums.

I love their two albums. John Stewart isn´t in the band anymore but his voice reminds me to Phil Mogg from UFO. Excellent band Slauter Xstroyes.

By the way, I guess you´re referring to Up The Hammers fest. I´d like to ask you. How was "Savage Grave" gig? I´ll see them at Keep It True but I consider it´s a shame having that line up.

Yes I am referring to UTH fest and you did well with the quotes as I also don't like this resurrection of "Savage Grace". I am sad to say you not to expect something good. Their gig was under the average and the main problem was Chris Logue, who wasn't in good condition and couldn't sing with dignity the nice tunes of the band.

The other dissapointing thing was that although they were headliners of the first day, they played only 8 Savage Grace songs ("Bound to be Free", "Sins of the Damned", "Master of Disguise", "The Dominatress", "After the Fall From Grace", "We Came, We Saw, We Conquered", "Betrayer", "Into the Fire") and not only the "Burn" cover we all know from the 1987 EP, but "Motorcycle Man" from Saxon too! There is also video footage from their gig at youtube and you can confirm that I am not mistaken.

As for Slauter Xstroyes, John Stewart isn't with them anymore and I was a little afraid of this. But the new singer, Steven Reimer, did an EXCELLENT job! There are a lot of videos of this historic SX gig and you can understand yourself the difference between an amazing gig (Slauter Xstroyes) and a mediocre one ("Savage Grace").

Glad you all got to see Slauter live finally!
Many Many years ago I used to sit outside John Stewarts Mom's basement window listening to Slauter practice. I lived two houses away, pretty cool.
I became friends and roadie and went to almost every practice in 1984-85 and was even in the studio during the recording of Free the Beast, 2 or 3 of my cymbals were used on the album! lol Anyways, I think it's cool that Metal fans in a different country are as big of fans as I!

I don't remember when it was released but it was recorded in 1986.

Their classic songs are MUCH better than the new one. Just listen to this and you will understand that I am right. :kickass:

The guitar solo at the end is one my favourites of all time. Paul Kratky (guitars) and Brent Sullivan (bass) really rule!

Voodoo isn't really a new song (there are 80's bootlegs of it and a dozen other "new" songs floating around), and I'm not sure how I feel about this considering that Jon didn't rejoin the band because Slauter Xstroyes originally only wanted to do live shows (or so I read somewhere; can't seem to find it). Who is their new singer, anyways? Or did Jon decide to rejoin anyways? It sounds like him, but I'm confused on what the line-up is. The performance was really tight regardless though, and actually, they seem to have enough old material to easily record another excellent album, so forgive my ramblings; this should be quite good.

Ah, nevermind then. He did do a very good job in that video. No worries as far as vocals are concerned.

In case you cannot find their albums, take a little taste of one of their classic tunes, also from the UTH show.
