I figured, but I wouldn't be surprised if people thought like that either.
Exactly. It is sad.
I mean all of us in bands have played gigs for no money, and its part of paying the dues. You exploit the opportunity each and every way possible for your own benefit (IE - making contacts, getting in good with the promoter, club, etc, making new fans, etc).
The average fan doesnt have a clue how many people have to get paid long before a band member makes a dime.
Now I have no idea how Slayer is financially structured.
Dave's letter above would indicate that the band has been incorporated.
That being said, each person who works for "Slayer Inc" would be an employee to which all their "Cuts" would be deductible.
This could prove VERY beneficial for each member of Slayer.
GIven what he posts above, the only way it couldn't be is depending on what Dave's ownership percentage is.
Whether or not he got paid before or after a tour? That seems like something he should have ironed out BEFORE hitting the road, just like what was being proposed for this upcoming Aussie tour........
As someone said above, Slayer survived without Lombardo before.
They aren't striving because of his return, but rather still living in the shadow of the whole BIG 4 thing. Let's face it. Can anyone honestly name 5 songs off their last album?????????
