Well it's done, at it actually works lol. Very 5150ish, but it has a little more to it that just makes it better. All in all I'm very happy with it, and I'm actually thinking about selling my XXX now.

Oh and about the LDR's instead of relays.... I think that the bleed involved with them is actually what gives the SLO it's 'thing', so I wanted to keep it that way. Besides, the turret board came prepped for them lol. I did add the 5th LDR, which real SLO's don't have... It is supposed to cut a little of that bleed out.

Yep.
Did you build that yourself?
looks really clean!

Yep, the only thing that I didn't do was put the turrets on the board. I may redo a few wires here and there for hum reasons, but otherwise it came out alot better than I thought it would!

Oh and I have a new found love for Teflon wire, it won't melt and stays where ever you bend it:heh:

I hated the bleed between the channels ;)

I guess I don't know yet, since my clean doesn't work yet lol.... I have a wire wrong going to one of the LDR's under the board so when I switch to clean I get almost no sound at all even with it cranked. It's almost like all I can hear is teh 'bleed'. I'm too lazy to pull the board though to fix it, since its alot of work. Who needs clean anyway?

hey wolfmen great job! the point to point you did on this amp is great!
how much did this project cost you ?
I bet the really expensive stuff were the output transformers, right?

The project cost me a total of around $750. I have the exact price in an excel file but i don't feel like opening it right now.

I love the point to point method. Not only does it look better than PCB, but it also gives you a better idea of how the layout applies to the schematic. This build was so much fun.

Actually I went cheap with the transformers. I ordered a set of mercury magnetics transformers, but Weber said it would be a while, so I just bought his cheapo Marshall 100 watt set. They are like $100 a piece, I figured they would sound horrible, but that Weber output trans is a freaking beast!!! I always hear people complain about the lack of low end thump on SLO's, but mine has an insane amount.

I guess you know it.

we want clips

They will be coming... I just finished my new rackmount computer rig, so I'm still working on transferring plug-ins and programs over. When I'm all set up I'll post some stuff.

Also I don't know if I mentioned it already, but all the people that say this amp needs to be boosted to get into metal territory are idiots. Mine can do death metal with the gain a little over half way up. It's possible that I did something wrong and that's why I have so much gain, but whatever:kickass:

Would you mind posting the schematic? I'd be interested to see what it "looked" like on paper.

They should start making all amps that clean inside. It'd be easier to work on.

Sure I can. Not sure if it will let you link to it without signing up for the forums, but give it a shot- SLO Schematic

That's the beauty of the SLO, if you ever see a stock one on the inside, you can see why they cost so much. Every wire is placed where they are for a reason. For instance the heater wires are run side by side to each other, so instead of twisting them and looking nasty, they look really good eliminate alot of hum. Here is a pic of a real one-
