SM7b on Guitar Cabs. Good/Bad?

i love it for cleans. Use it sometimes for heavier stuff too. The capsule is pretty far back so remember to consider that when using it with other mics. If you want something a bit 57 and a bit SM7 - take the transformer out of a 57. I've been using my transformer-less 57 a lot recently

don't use the afro thing. Fuck that. Unless you try it and it sounds hectic-good. Try with and without, i usually leave the windscreen on but then again i've cheekily taken it off too.

My former band used that mic exclusively recording guitar cabs on our Metalblade release The Resting Sonata. You can hear it here myspace.com/rosefuneral

The guitars on A Sense Of Purpose had an SM7 combined with a Royer 121 on em.

That explains the dark muffled sound of those Rhythm tracks. They sound flat and lifeless IMO. The Leads are brighter and have more definition. I have watched the DVD that came with the album a few times and saw the SM7 on the Cab but didn't see the 121 (might be blind though :goggly:).
