So have college kids always been fucking idiots?

College life was great. Nothing like living in a fraternity house with chicks over all the time and porn blasting from the big screen whilst downing a case of beer, and bossing around pledges.

College>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>real life

College was terrible!

It was absolutely sickening to sleep with a girl and not remember her name the next day. It was even worse when she couldn't remember yours, therefore making it impossible to ever have to talk to her again. Beer, chicks, hangovers, living across the street from three sororities (from which many of the girls felt it necessary to come over several nights a week while they were drunk), terrible, terrible times those were.

Don't even get me started on the atrocity that is SPRING BREAK IN CANCUN!!!

Is this just how college is in the Midwest, or am I at a forum full of losers (not including J.)?

Well, we've got the college, and then the Uni. The dicks down this end seem to come out of the college, though I've no doubt I'll meet a bunch of pretentious prats in Uni when I start. Or I could be wrong, I'd like to be...

It's just cool to make fun of people that actually enjoyed college, got laid, drank, and did stupid shit instead of sitting in their dorm room thinking that they are smarter and more refined than all those whores, drunks, and trouble-makers.

College only lasts a little while (unless you're a dumbshit), so why not enjoy it? You're only young once. And while I'm not saying that those anti-social people can't have fun in college, it just seems ridiculous to be a hermit the one time in your life where your only responsibility is to make decent grades.

Yes, except usually a big price difference in tuition. :loco:

I went to a commuter school, St. John's University ... so it was not much fun. Basically had to fend for myself and pay my way through ... so was making my school schedule around my work schedule.

If and When I have a kid, I will highly encourage him/her to go away to school. I think it's a good boot camp for the adult life ahead.

I went to school 5 hours from where I grew up. I guess I consider that the minimum distance I could have been without feeling too close.

I went to a University in the Midwest, so tuition was pretty cheap. I worked all summer and paid for an entire year of school, alcohol, condoms, etc. Of course I worked for my family during the summer, so I was probably paid better than average.:)

Dude... yes. YES!

College rules. These past 3 years (including senior year of HS) have been the best years of my life! And I'm still making Dean's List!

I think I was probably similar to you going in to college. I ended up with a creative writing degree, which I think you are going for.

Anyway, I'll just warn you now . . . every year will get better, more unbelievable, and harder for you to ever convince anybody of what truly went on in your college years. Sometimes I don't even believe myself when I hear my own stories. Don't hold back . . . that's my only advice . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . oh, and DO NOT be afraid to ask your two hot female bisexual neighbors to get a little frisky with you when they're drunk.:dopey:

Man... we have ONE hot girl in our dorm (1/4 floors are girls), and luckily the others only come up when we're too loud at 4AM. But I've definitely partied more this year than last year and it's been pretty fuckin fun all around. I still haven't gotten the tail I've been expecting, but I am EXTREMELY attractive (so much it hurts sometimes) and I figure that will work itself out as long as I remain social. I wonder if the limeys at UEA next semester will be as big party-ers as people are here...

Yep, still majoring in English, minoring in Creative Writing. I can't believe that these classes are considered "work"... I enjoy a good literature discussion more than I enjoy stumbling around Franklin Street drunk off my ass like last night (but not really).

Partying does have it's ill effects. One of my buds accidentally/drunkenly slept with a fat asian chick (didn't bone her, though) and the night after the first Dook game, I nearly had to have my stomach pumped. Not good times!

The only thing I regret (and that is too harsh a word for something so petty) about college is not boning a bunch of stupid freshman girls, because by the time I a Certified Boner Hero my third year, I was in a long term relationship. But even though I was one of those loners on campus during school, I partied 8 nights a week!

Everything ruled about college, everything. Chicks, beer, drugs, lack of responsibility, knowledge, books, library, idiotic jobs that you didn't give two shits about as long as it bought you a 20 year old car, a lot more beer, running around anywhere and everywhere, staying up until 5am and waking up at 7am, truly being free from your parents for the first time, etc. etc.

I went to school about 30 minutes away, and lived with my parents until my last year, but I think going away to school is important for someone who has lived a sheltered life. That way when you go completely gonzo drinking and scoring on a 4 month bender, not only is it okay, it's expected!

Oh yeah yeah, I know that...I'm just trying to half-heartedly force my way into convo with my Brit perspective :loco:

I guess I’m the moderate in between the frat rats and the dorm hermits. I like to go out to parties on occasion, drink, and I like having sex. I do, on the other hand, think most frat guys are fucking idiots and should die in a house fire. I’ve always been pretty moderate about it; I don’t binge drink much and don’t have random sex with just any girl. I mean, excessive drinking and promiscuous sex sounds like one hell of a time, but so does cirrhosis of the liver and gonorrhea. No thanks.

Enjoying college doesn’t mean you have to thrive on self-destruction.
