So I let my friend borrow my countryman DI...

and he ran it in speaker mode, but never ran the thru to the guitar cabinet.

I haven't got a chance to check it out yet, but just out of curiosity...is that a bad thing for the DI Box? I'd assume it's bad for the head, but what about the DI..should I have any concerns?

Hmm, so you're saying he ran Guitar Amp speaker out --> Countryman --> Mic preamp? That's a good question, I don't think it'd do damage to the Countryman, but I can also see the possibility that it would...

If it's a tube head, he may have damaged it. Hope your stuff still works.

The Countryman's one of the most resilient bits of audio gear I've ever seen. It can take static spikes up to 20,000 volts and it won't care if you run direct mains power through it all day long. There's a chance the guy will have messed up his amp, but I'd be VERY surprised if anything untoward happened to your DI.
