So I watched the Rob Zombie movies in the last 2 days

getting in before all the Rob Zombie haters.
love those movies.
I find them both great for their own merits. I love the comicbook horror stylings of the first, and then the twist to more straightforward slasher in the 2nd.

My problem with the 1st one is that it just came across as a loosely packaged "best of" all his favorite horror scenes from earlier (better done) movies.
The 2nd one had a much better story and was more creative IMO.

Haven't seen House Of 1000 Corpses, but I loved The Devil's Rejects when I went to see it at the cinema. The Leatherface 'gag' was a particular highlight.
I'm 100% accurate when I say that House of 1,000 was literally a collage of previous movies that Zombie obviously worships.

look, House was stupid. it was campy. it was lame. but it didn't try to be anything but a lame B-movie with lots of blood and guts. it knew its place.
Devil's Rejects tried to be a real movie. it was like Zombie said "okay enough with the silly stuff, let's get serious." and it totally sucked out the fun for me.

Devil's was still completely campy, at least this time 'round he connected the over-the-top gore with some actual *gasp* tension! And a story! I also like that Devil's was indeed an homage to classic horror flicks without blatantly aping them.
House was simply an exercise in "let's see just how many people I can make vomit."
