Ok chaps, I'm making mx CD's for various people - need suggestions on themes, really. I prefer to make them on themes, as if I don't, all my favourite, "obvious" tracks tend to get chosen. If I have a strict theme to work on, I choose songs that ordinarily I wouldn't.

Some of these CDs will be for my own use while driving.

Any themes?

(I've done War to death! - if I hear "...For Victory or War Ensemble one more time on a mix CD, I'll scream!)

I have done my mix Cd with death and black metal songs, here's the playlist:

1. Anaal Nathrakh - The Supreme Necrotic Audnance
2. And Oceans - Salipsism
3. Behemoth - Decade Of Therion
4. Decapitated - Winds Of Creation
5. Goatwhore - The Black Art Of Deception
6. God Dethroned - Serpent King
7. Gorgoroth - Procreating Satan
8. Hate Eternal - King Of All Kings
9. Immolation - Put My Hand In The Fire
10. Krisiun - Messiah's Abomination
11. Marduk - Death Sex Ejaculation
12. Mayhem - I Am Thy Labyrinth
13. Myrkskog - Over The Gore
14. Naglfar - When Autumn Storms Come
15. Setherial - The Sign Of Wrath Awakes
16. The Crown - Morningstar Rising
17. The Forsaken - Injected Terror
18. Thy Disease - Perfect Form
19. Zyklon - Subtle Manipulation

I always listen to this mix when I'm pissed.

Bands featuring women??

I would do, but I usually get about 17 tracks per CD. I'd have trouble assembling 17 different tracks from 17 different artists that feature women that I like.

You should do something featuring modern musical geniuses, ala Daniel Gildenlow, Devin Townsend, Steve Wilson, Ihsahn, Garm, Toby Driver, Mike Patton, Blakkheim, Arjen Lucassen,Lars Nedland, Cornelius Jakhelln, Dan Swano, Vladimir Cochet, etc.

"music to play alone in the dark at night"

and then go download all 5 discs of Passion Immortal. :p

I downloaded one mate, good, but not my cup of tea. I like the theme though.

I'm afraid my music taste is a little more visceral and a little less, I don't know, emotional than yours ?

I know what Carcassions mix tape is.

haha yeah i am a pussy :p

You could always try the "elemental music" approach or something. Pick music that reminds you of fire, water, wind, earth, etc. That might be interesting.

Yeah, except my Winter album would be full of...erm....Winter

Greys - you missed anything off Swansong. I like Swansong.
