so this new nevermore album

I haven't heard either.

Nevermore hasn't been completely awesome since Dream Neon Black...I love that album so much.

Main problem for me: Warrell's melodies sound rehashed. Those copy/past ballads. Loomis overplaying ever since he became the lone guitarist. No Neil Kernon production.

I've heard good things about the new opeth but haven't heard it yet.

I second almost all of what azal said about nevermore. Although I think their best was Politics of Ecstasy both in writing and production. Dreaming was passable but dude, overcompressed doesn't even begin to describe it. Didn't anyone else get listening fartique three songs in? And Warrel Dane started to irritate with the lyrics a lot more than usual there, but not near as bad as Enemies or Dead Heart. Also totally frontloaded. The next three albums were very bad and I can't easily believe they've gotten out of the slump, but I'm willing to give the new one a listen.

Also, 'new opeth'...

Yeah, This Godess Endeavor is the first Nevermore album I've liked since DNB. I really don't know what else to say beside that.

I just bought the new Nevermore, and i'm not really liking it that much. The progressive riff fests of DnB and PoE are gone, and that is what i loved most about Nevermore. Now it's like .... fucking normal riffs and normal everything. ITS A FUCKING NORMAL ALBUM. I hate normal. A few songs are pretty good, but hardly amazing. I liked DHIADW more, and i don't know why everyone hates that one, it's my 3rd favorite. NEVERMORE SHOULD NOT BE RELEASING ALBUMS WITH 3-5 MINUTE SONGS WITH NORMAL RIFFS. FACT.
