Sobriety Checkpoint

The Traffic Division of the Costa Mesa Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, May 12, 2006. The checkpoint will be located on Newport Blvd. at Flower Street. The purpose of the checkpoint is to educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. The hours of operation will be from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. During the checkpoint, there will be an increased number of officers patrolling surrounding streets to try and catch drivers avoiding the checkpoint. The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the State Office of Traffic Safety.
