Art is correct there... it's all about "coupling" the drums to the room, so the room inforces the sustain and low-end of the drums. Very important for overheads and ambience. Corners does build up low-end, but it depends on the tuning and size of the drums if it's right. Just putting the kit in a corner doesn't guarantee success.
But, drumplacement in the room and ambience mic placement interacts in a million different ways.
