SOILWORK releases new single, "This Momentary Bliss"

I picked this up this morning and have been through a couple of times.

Zod, actually in my opinion I think the whole 2 albums are strong. Whether you think the first album or the second album is the strongest depends on what soilwork style you like. The first album has more of the old style, and the 2nd album hand more experimental and mid paced songs.

What's crazy is that when I read the reviews and comments on the various messageboards, everyone lists different songs as their favorites. I think I've seen every song mentioned as being someone's favorited. Guess is just goes to show what style they prefer.

I'm glad they did it this way I wouldn't have wanted 20 fast songs, but I do know that some do...What I like about both of these albums is that they varied the songs enough not to sound like each other.

I actually listened to the 2nd cd first which make me appreciate it much more....
The cleans and various hooks embedded in all these songs are awesome..really keepa ya coming back.... Great job soilwork!!!

I picked this up today as well (much SQUEE was had all morning while I waited for a good time to head to FYE). It's pretty damned boss. This is definitely their most adventurous album in a number of ways, and it's a very successful gambit in my opinion. I especially love the prevalence of keys you can actually hear out front! Not usual for them. The riffing is incredibly solid, which I had worried about since Peter's gone and the last album without him is my least favorite of theirs. Also...Dirk...what a freakin beast. He sounds like a damned octopus with drumsticks. I love that guy's work. And it doesn't really need saying but Strid sounds amazing.

FYI, those who are unfamiliar - the new guitarist replacing Wichers is David Andersson of Night Flight Orchestra fame.

Mardoch, how about that chorus on the song "Tongue"? ...damn what a beauty!!! I can't get that out of my head! lol....

Haven't got my copy yet but look forward to it. BTW it's $7.99 at BB and Amazon right now. Can't beat that for a double album!

My preorder (with ltd. shirt) came in the mail yesterday. I only had a chance to listen to it through once, but i'm very impressed. I love most of Soilwork's albums (aside from some of their very early stuff) and this double album is definitely the best of their career. 20 songs and not one weak track among them. I can't wait to see them play some of these songs live.

I've been pretty much listening to nothing but The Living Infinite since Tuesday. For me it's a pretty big deal; few new albums hold my attention exclusively like this these days. I highly doubt there will be another album this year that i'll enjoy more than this one. It's hard to pick just one favorite, but at this moment The Living Infinite 1 might be my favorite song. I love the chorus.

For me it's Momentary Bliss, and I'm on the same boat... I'm pretty surprised that a double album like this is able to hold my attention from beginning to end. Obviously there are way too many good releases out these days to only listen to one disc, but this Soilwork album is definitely up there among my favorite of the year so far. I'm playing it through at least twice a week.

By the way, you going to their show Saturday at the Webster? Let me know, another buddy of mine from the forum and I will be there.

This Momentary Bliss was my favorite of the singles, and overall I think it's my fave off the album, but by the time I bought the album I had heard that single like 123,456,789 times, so I think TLI1 might be my current fave not including any of the singles.

Yeah i'll be there! I just got my ticket from one of the local openers a couple days ago. I'll probably lose my shit during This Momentary Bliss.

Parasite Blues, Antidotes in Passing, and Long Live the Misanthrope for me. I listened to this album all day Wednesday, and about half of the day Thursday. I didn't want to burn myself out on it, so I only listened to it once today...but it still feels so fresh. There's so much to discover in this album. It's incredible.

I was initially worried that a double album might water down the quality and let a few filler songs make it on to the albums. So far I have found this to be a solid album start to finish with quality throughout. Also they seem to be taking a few chances with some unique sounding choruses and sections. Perhaps Speed's experiments with Night Flight Orchestra wore off on his writing (in a good way).

That would be Andersson's (who was also in NFO) influence. Like Antidotes in Passing, for instance, which he wrote. And which is one of my favorites from that album. Kind of a "risky" tune for Soilwork.

A few things to consider after seeing Soilwork this past weekend:

- Speed is AMAZING live. The whole band, in fact, is on fire.
- New songs sound great onstage.
- When given a setup like Centerstage, there will be a lot of people converted into fans comes ProgPower.
- Lots of options for merch means lots of money. Good job guys.
- Speed is also... a little bigger now? Holy crap, did the guy gain 40lbs or what?!?!?

Speed is amazing live. At the NYC show, his vocals were front and center. There's nothing he does on album he can't do live.

As for the rest of the band, I thought they were solid. The lead guitar work left a bit to be desired. However, I'll give them a pass on that for now. Hopefully it's a bit cleaner in Atlanta. And yeah, I agree, they'll make some new fans.

I saw them at The Webster and they were amazing. I would've liked to have heard more off the new album and the panic broadcast, but what they played sounded amazing. I was front and center and lost my shit during their whole set.

Before the show, I took a vocal lesson with Speed! It was a great experience. You can read about it at the below link if you're interested:
