Otyg: yep, a great folk viking music! i was very into the folk-viking stuff couple of years ago, nowadays i just play Otyg whenever i need some good background music....

Svartur Dodur - i dont know them. how unusual. what does it sounbd like?


Spiral Architect - you said "wow" and i agree. its amazing.

Gorgoroth - INDEED a great black metal band, that got arrested in Poland a month ago after putting goat heads and buckets of blood on stage...

gorgoroth's music is boring and rehashed, never sheard smart doodoo or whatever, ephel duath are original and somewhat kickass, spiral architect are wonky and cool, dan swano is god and otyg scares me

gorgoroth and ephel duath got their names from places in mordor (from tolkien's LOTR)

What can I say Spiral Architect are amazing!
I saw them live and it was just mind boggling.
The only sad part is they are just a watchtower rip off, but that is also thier greatest strength since watchtower are masters at progmetal.

Hopefully one day a new spiral architect CD will be made.

Spiral Architect are just mind blowing. "A Sceptic's Universe" was released in...2001 I think...they need to get back together and make a new freaking cd

Spiral Architect are perfect and far better than all the others mentioned up there , watchtower music + psychotic waltz vocals .. too bad their singer left for the godz Arcturus (when Garm cannot be replaced)

Ephel Duath kickass imo. The only decent newer jazzy metal band I think. I started listening to Yakuza and couldn't really get into them, then Ephel Duath came along, and kick my ass.

I checked out a track from Moontower yesterday and it was pretty solid (as would be expected). Swano's Nightingale stuff is really awesome too if you're looking for just hard rock.

Havn't heard much Gorgoroth (although I have heard Golgolot and Gorgasm). Spiral Architect is amazing. They have good prog vocals without sounding like Labrie. I have the latest Ephel Duath cd, which I like, also because for some reason I'm in a hardcore band. I havn't actually heard Otyg, which is surprising, cause I listen to dozens of other viking and folk bands. So if anyone has an Otyg mp3 they can give me, or wants mp3s of other viking/folk, tell me.
