someone just told me that Ramen noodles are supposedly really bad for you

my college roommate ate STRICTLY ramen for 3 weeks once because my mom gave her a case of them to be nice. her nails turned yellow and started breaking and her hair was coming out in excess.
it has tons of trans fatty acids and msg, and also, dyes, crappy nitrate perservatives, and of course heat expelled refined oil. yummm.

They are also TOTALLY FULL OF FAT, and loaded with sodium, even without the little flavor packet. That plus they give pretty much no nutrition at all.

I think ramen is responsible for the many skinny-fat vegans / vegetarians out there - lord knows I was one of them. Although I was more on the fat-fat end of the scale...

all sorts of things are like that. it's obscene. the other day i was looking out of boredom when i was in line at whole foods and the muffin i was getting had 2 SERVINGS in it. like, who eats half a freakin muffin? also, bottles of juice always have two servings. it's like, wait, what? i have to have half LATER?

in other news, bacon cheeseburgers may cause weight gain.

MSG isn't bad for you, despite the hypey scare of our youth. but ramen noodles have plenty of horribleness otherwise.

msg is just one of like, 4,000 preservatives that can aggravate sodium based vascular problems. (migraines sometimes) no biggie smalls. it has about 20 names, including "hydrolyzed animal / vegetable protein". i mean, it's even in canned tuna fish.

straight dope isn't always so straight i guess. either way, MIT did a cogsci study about 3 months ago and concluded that vascular compression in certain areas of the brain can be exacerbated by large qualtities of MSG in the diet. i know this because my father has facial trigeminal neuralgia and it is also a non-brain related form of potential vascular compression and i always follow up on studies about these sort of disorders for that reason. either way, it's not out of the shadows of being shady entirely. there's still question.
