Something interesting about the headliners for PPV...

I agree that three of the four above mentioned albums are not very good IMO but I don´t think Edguy´s ¨King of Fools¨EP and Pain of Salvation´s ¨12:5¨acoustic live album should count since they are both not regular albums. Kamelot´s ¨Epica¨is a very good album though.
Well, that's why I referred to them as "releases", but in any case, why shouldn't they count? I think a band should be judged on everything they release whether it be a 7" single, an EP, live album, or a full release.

I mean, to be perfectly honest, if you've got shite material laying around, then why does it need to be released at all? (Unless of course it's down to a contractual clause as was the case with Edguy). I for one cannot wait until the new Edguy album is released containing proper songs that they actually spent some time and effort on. Only 10 days and counting, woot! \m/  \m/

I don't think any headline band should be selected according to their lastest release anyway.

What if Masterplan had a great record this year and Iron Maiden's new record wasn't that great. Should Masterplan headline over Maiden. Certainly not, headliners are made over several records, it's their back catologe that give's them that respect.
I could not agree more. :) I'm thrilled about PPV this year because of the headliners' back catalogue. That's it really, I'm just having a bit of fun with the fact that their latest albums are nowhere near the best that they can offer.

And hey, just because Iron Maiden released Virtual XI doesn't detract from my opinion of them being the greatest heavy metal band that ever existed.

Up the Irons!

I like the King of Fools EP. Getting the EP was worth the money just for "The Life and Times of a Bonus Track." So its not supposed to be a great metal song (or a metal song at all), but damn it is funny.
