just read on the bwbk site about jerry cantrell having a jam with the other guys from alice in chains.i know that thier not everyones cup of tea,but i loved them.a new cd by them would be a must for me.anyone else?
Do you think it would work without Layne....... I don't. I'm a very big AIC fan. If the remaining members get back together I hope it's under a different name.
that would be fine, changing the name and all-yes it would be different, but jerry is one hell of a singer too.i wasnt sure, but after i saw him live in 2002 he blew me away.the guy is genius-he wrote lots of the vocal melody stuff for aic too so i think to hear them with that sound and groove, even without laynes stunning vocals, would be well worth it.

You're right, there's nobody like Layne. But there is this guy...Eddie Ellis, that had a band called Haji"s Kitchen, on Shrapnel records back in 95', that put out an incredible album.(self titled) They sounded like Pantera with Layne Staley on vocals. I'm not fucking kidding!! Just like him, this Ellis guy!!! He has also sang on afew tracks on James Murphy's (guitarist in Obituary,Death,Testament's Low album, etc...) solo albums Convergence, and Feeding the Machine. I think a few years ago, someone asked Eddie if he ever talked to AIC since his death, but I can't remember what his response was.
I wouldn't mind seeing the remaining members do something, but without Layne, it just won't be AIC. Cantrell sings fair, but with the clout they have, they could probably find a top notch vocalist to start another AIC style band.
It´d be interesting to hear something new from the remaining members but ALICE IN CHAINS would not be the same without Layne. It would be a much better decision for the guys to make a new name.
