Somewhere Back In Time Tour 2008

It will only be material off of the following albums i suspect:

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Somewhere In Time
Powerslave

Sadly - no. :erk:
There will AGAIN be plenty of worn out classics like The Trooper, don't worry. If they were to play just those three albums, they would have to work too much, cause they've forgotten to play those songs and why should they bother when they can play (you guessed it...) The Troopeeeeer... :puke:

Thank f#ck it's not just those 3 albums. Anything after Powerslave I can live without. "Al-exander the Great, his name struck fear into hearts of men..." , "Moon-chi-hi-hild, you'll be mine soon child..." haha. "Back-in-the-village-Back-in-the-village-Back-in-the-village...again" is not a strong point for Powerslave, but...

I want to see them play the worn out classics since it will be my first time seeing them. If they just played the setlist from Live After Death, I would be stoked. I would be satisfied with Where Eagles Dare, Flight of Icarus and Still Life. Just 3 songs. Might get one of them  "To Tame a Land" would be awesome, wishful thinking.:erk:

Can't wait.

It's really boring to play the same old song over and over again. I think they'd rather play many other different songs, but audience wants to listen to The Trooper, Hallowed Be Thy Name and stuff like that.
IMO musicians hate to play the same songs, I suppose they also do.

I strongly disagree and I'll tell you why...
Metallica is the band of about the same status and influence as Iron Maiden, right?
But you NEVER know what rabbit they'll gonna pull out of their hat and their shows always last at least 2 hrs, if not 2:30!!!
I mean, they don't hesitate to play even the covers like Breadfan, Am I Evil, So What or whatever... Maiden have some awesome covers themselves (I've Got The Fire, Crosseyed Mary...) but prefer to stick to their Best Of thing like they've never made another song apart from those.

That's what I'm talking about! I reckon a real Maiden fan would be as satisfied with Flash Of The Blade as with The Trooper... I know I would be more than satisfied in such case. It's not about not hearing Trooper live, I've been force-fed with it in every club, at every show I attend, on every metal radio show... I mean, enough with it already!

Don't get me wrong, that song is awesome and I'm a diehard Maiden fan, but I've just used it as an example, I could say the same thing for TNOTB or RTTH.

i agree with you 100% sickboy and i do think maiden are too self-complacent to pull those songs from the set. nicko and harris have said they'll keep playing hallowed be thy name (which is a great song of course, but any song can get old) at every maiden show ever.

on the other hand, they're very good at promoting a new album (unlike say, metallica :p ) ..when they have a new one out, they play more than half of it.. but that doesn't disprove their laziness, it's easier to play songs that are fresh in your mind rather than dig up forgotten gems :)
