Are you serious about this?

you're forgetting nice n smooth!!

"I'm smooth b i'm at the top of the pile,
rap and sing cuz of I'm versatile,
give me an inch damn right I'll take a mile
cuz I keep funky fresh routines on file.
there's a lot of mc's out there that don't show and don't prove,
runnin round town talking bout they're smooth,
they're smooth operators, but they're smooth imitators
cuz there's only one Smooth B that's the smooth originator. Smooth connosieur there's no one truer,
select a rhyme and you'll find that fewer,
are able to match my proffessional blend
with Greg Nice by my side I continue to ascend,
moving on up through lyrical likes
I"m like the alpha omega my rhymes will excite.
trust what I'm saying and i'll always exist
and the girl that I select will be an emporess!!""

I can keep going if required.

You're also forgetting one my favorites Special Ed.

"I'm the highest ???? s???? numero uno,
i'm not a puerto rican but I"m speaking so that you know
and understand I got the gifts of speech
and it's a blessing so listen to the lessons I preach
I got sense condensed into the form of a pole,
i got my ???? to the top of my toe
i'm kind of young but my tounge speaks maturity,
i'm not a fool i need nothing for security----

shit, I forgot some of these ultra hype, funky fresh lyrics from my rappin, b-boppin, break dancin, past. Shit.

But Rakim, that guy rules. (I used to compose rap too)

Thanks for taking me back. Are you as surprised as I am?

And what was that song by digital underground ? I can't remember this one, the song with the funny guy with the fake nose? pisses me off I can't remember. anywayy.....

nevermind.....it's the "humpty dance" haha "the humpty dance is your chance to do the HUMP" hehe, ah what innocent memories utterly devoid of gravitas. I'll never let go!

well, i don't know about reminding me about my childhood so much, but there is and album i've called "the soundtrack to my life". fates warning's masterpiece\50 minute epic "A Pleasant Shade Of Gray" is what i like listeining to when i'm feeling dpressed. the lyrics really connect with how i feel and the musical content is a nice mix between soft melodic keyboards and dissonate metal. sure, there are depressing bands like my dying bride and theatre of tradgedy, but A Pleasant Shade of Gray just really sticks out.

Orff wrote Carmina Burana (O Fortuna is the most famous part having been used in the movie Excalibur, "Angel's Holocaust" by Iced Earth, a cover of it is on Therion "Deggial", and I've heard it other places but can't remember them right off) Great stuff. I grew up listening to lots of crap on the radio, the first tape I ever owned...brace yourself...was George Michael "Faith". Soon after I got Def Leppard "Pyromania" then gradually got into heavier stuff. Any 80's songs that were on the radio remind me of childhood, but my teenage years are remembered with classic Thrash like Testament, Anthrax, Megadeth, Vio-Lence, Forbidden, etc.

The HE-MAN theme. Whenever I hear that I get shivers down my spine. As for popular music, I think it would be Metallica, Sepultura (when "Arise" came out I thought they looked scary), Alice Cooper in his dreadful and dark Desmond Child -days, Europe...and eventually came Black Sabbath who changed my life for the better.

A lot of blues, + 60ies and 70ies softer/harder
music reminds me of my childhood...
I have no particular song.
I grew up playing my father's record-collection...
I was into everything from The Beatles to
John Lee Hooker to Deep Purple to Grieg.
I'm lucky! :o)

After that it was all indie for me...
Until I descovered "the real deal".
Metal all the way >:o)

completely. i live around mostly black people, so of course all this rubbed off on me.

you're forgetting nice n smooth!!
how could i forget?! "sometimes i rhyme slow, sometimes i rhyme quick. i'm sweeter and thicker than a chico stick. here's an ice cream cone, honey, take a lick." ...or something like that. :goggly:

i also forgot my absolute favorite: ROB BASE! "joy and pain" and "it takes two" are STILL two of my favorite songs! lol

But Rakim, that guy rules.
ah yes, i spelled it wrong.

Thanks for taking me back. Are you as surprised as I am?
quite. where did you grow up? are you serious about the breakdancing stuff?

it's funny, i know it's blasphemous to many of you, but i'll always have a fondness for this music. i didn't know any metal fans until the age of 18, so i can't just wipe out everything i grew up with!

but i know opeth is the best ever...
