Probably the best song ever about war. The song paints vivid pictures of the preparation for the battle and then the battle itself. So many chills during this song:
The war drums.
The opening vocal line of "Blood red skies, blood red fields, the sun in its last breath providing the shadows of the trees. A moment to dance before death."
That insane scream at 8:22 - 8:37.
The melancholic riff at 11:05 to 11:30. I imagine this is the point where the survivors are surveying the battlefield and seeing the death and destruction, perhaps regretting what they've done, before preparing to finish the battle.
And then the last couple of lines are just epic:
My wary hatred engraves
Fear in their faces as they see their death
I am war, I am death
My hammer crushes skulls and bones
Screams of fear
My sword's thirst drowns in blood
Tears and begging for mercy
