The album is killer. When I immerse myself in it it's like an incredible southern gothic anthology film playing out in my head. But the closer is something extra and probably my favorite example of musical storytelling. The entire "it's been years now..." verse where the narrator's attempts to move on are undercut by this doomed descending motif that just keeps going unabated like some unresolvable trauma that'll ruin everything you'll ever touch. I get the chills every time I listen to it attentively.

The Mercy Seat is great too. This Bambara album has had me wondering if I'm a latent blues punk/gothic rock fan so I've checked out some Nick Cave/Birthday Party stuff but I can't say I've found an album that has clicked with me, but I do love that one song.

i think i'm ready to call that song better than 'the mercy seat' now tbh. genuinely haunted music. what i personally would really love is a graphic novel that feels like it, seems the perfect medium somehow. a short story collection, alternatively.

I guess I'm retarded because I thought I had a hidden gem here that people would dig.

I ignored this album when it came out because of the war metal tag and I assumed it would be some crappy sounding job with bad songwriting, but it actually rules.

It's rooted primarily in OSDM and checks the brutuality and groove boxes for me. Plus, it's one guy from Chile.
