does anyone know how to make songs fade into one another?? you hear this a lot on concept albums and stuff. A band I'm working with wants me to do this for them and I have no idea how it is done without sounding choppy

any ideas??

I either mix both the songs in the same session, or when I'm "mastering" (in protools) I have the songs on separate tracks and have them overlap appropriately. Then I just make sure there are no breaks between songs on the CD. I don't know the proper way to do it.

i'de imagine it's just a long cross fade
something like this, but with the peaks really drawn out

or are you talking about the delay time between tracks?? there's usually a 2-3 second silence period between each song, you can set it to 0 when burning. that way it seems like it's one ongoing performance

i have tried putting that silence setting to 0 before but still had problems .. maybe thats to do with something else i did wrong though?

Pman what software has this option??

if you have Roxio CD creator...it also allows you to do this. you have to go into properties or advanced or something and it will give you the options of splitting song (that is if a song has an intro that is named something other than the original song, but runs together, and naming them different) or if you have two songs you can cross fade them.

i do this in vegas (yeah i know it means using windoze. yuck)
You can also use negative time as well, so hide interludes between tracks and other fun things
