Sound Deterioration due to the density and dynamics of the material

Greets, so, i got a problem with metal :err:

in the last month i did a bunch of Rock-mixes and they just came out of me, everything sounds nice, mix is dense but separated, in short i liked them, but going back to metalmixes again i struggle with the same problems, getting the kick big enough but not annoyingcly clicky, gluing the snare whilst keeping it above the mix, and general quality of sounds, because all the compressing cutting and controlling i find it hard to keep up the quality of the source material.

Here it is quite obvious, the guitarsound lacks dimensionality (ok its the 8505 plugin), the overheads kinda pump, the kick is too clicky at times and annoys me whilst not having enough THUMP in the low end (its almost too tight), the toms are too far down and whole mix does not sound as pristine as it should, if i compare it to other releases it just lacks quality. And if i try to fix any problem i hear i usually run in bigger problems / unacceptable degradation.

My problem is i have no clue in which stage i make the errors, do i choose the wrong samples or set the compressor-stages wrong, its some fundamental error i simply do not get behind, this is why i am asking. Maybe one of you did have this revelation already and could give me a hint in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated!

edit: i kinda got it under control

but i am still far from satisfied with this mix :(

nope, i did not, i did just use the tracks provided with the download, although i did rework the guitars and i am much more satisfied with them now

whilst they are still a bit too loud and have a kinda low-fi feel to them they are no fizzy mess of shit anymore , i guess the only way to learn is really close examination of the problem and A LOT of trial and error
