Soy products destroy healthy bones - Beware the Abominable Bean!

Not if you do it right Southy! As long as they are careful to replace the vitamins and stuff they lose from not eating meat etc. its very healthy!

Goreripper, that's not always true. A lot of dieticians give advice based on information that is outdated <snip>

I'm sure they do. My advice was that people should get more than one opinion about such things, and those opinions should be informed, and come from a qualified source, not just someone who says: "I tried this diet and blah blah" or some idiot with an axe to grind like that stupid woman with that anti-medicine website. People have been known to die from following non-medical 'experts' with radical diets. Look at that fruit cake who claimed she could live on nothing but fresh air and sunshine like a plant. When they tested her she passed out from hunger pains after only a few days. She was lucky because she was surrounded by a medical team that the TV crew insisted come along, even though she didn't want them there, but someone who listened to her and went off up into the woods to live on a glass of water and clean air ended up being found weeks later dead of a heart attack caused by malnutrition.

I'm not criticising your choice, I'm just warning people to think carefully about who they listen to when experimenting with diets and alternative cures. There's people who claim they've cured cancer, but can't prove it. There's people who claim they can cure AIDS, eplilepsy, MS, spina bifida, and all sorts of incurable things. They can't. No one can.

you one??or ya know a few??, anyhoo my missus gave it a go for 3 or 4 years before our first son was born, maybe its just me that thinks it is a load of Bullshit. Maybe too much meat for me, but if it wasn't for modern medecine you couldn't be a vego...so how is it right??again i ask am i too primal for my own good

I chose to be a vegetarian during my major training to try and get into the Institute Of Sport. As I found every time I ate meat or some other meat by product it would feel like cement in my stomach during training. Which was no good considering I was training 2-3hrs in the mornings and 3 in the afternoon.
It then stuck for years after till one day I decided to eat some meat and never have really stopped for more than a few weeks since.
I tend to eat a lot of vegetable and high protien things anyway.

Southy, that's brilliant! It's using radical idiots' own rhetoric against them. Again, I'm not attacking anyone's personal choices, but if some wanna-be hippie starts lecturing me about how unhealthy it is to eat meat, I just ask them why it is our appendix is atrophied, why we don't have four stomachs like a cow and our dental structure is the way it is.

"Ok, just let me calm myse... Hahahahahaha!" *falls over* ;)

touche Moony...
People would think that I chose the wrong time to become a vego, but I was so much better for it. My diet was extremely well balanced and watched by my trainers and doctors etc etc.At 1st they didn't agree with me becoming vego, but when I explained my reasons etc they agreed that it was a good idea.

Well at least there is one meat eater here with me

I'm not saying anything about vego's ya wann be one be one but ALL vego's i have ever meet seen or looked at in the street seem to wanna push the vego barrow so to speak

Oh and moonie you will NEVER get the right amount of iron in your diet without some form of modern scientificly researched vego food, not to mention a few other less essential vitamins..but hey that is your choice, i like to be a primal meat-eating person, and i eat veggies too :p, but face it no matter what the human body is MENT to eat meat so sustain your lust and eat it

another boring rant yeah?? ahh well enjoy:bah:

As long as you read up about it you can live a perfectly healthy life while on any kind of vegetarian diet. But the further to the extreme you go (i.e. no eggs, no meat, no milk, no cheese or any of that kind of stuff) the more careful you would have to be. But as long as you ARE careful, then I cant see there being any problems :D

But why couldnt you take an Iron supplement or something instead of eating meat Southy? As long as you get the vitamins, it doesnt really matter where its from does it?

(I am not a vegetarian at all, but I dont think its bad for you)

i have never said it is a bad thing, just totally unnatural, after a long time on it, just like everything it may eventually take a bad tool on some part of the body

As for sports people im sure most of 'em are vego's when it comes to running and swiming

geez what a can of worms we have opened eh?

not as far as I knew there was only 2 of us on the state team that were vego's the other was because of religion!

You CANNOT get the perfect diet and i refuse to believe you can, unless all you eat is fucking pills, the scientists change their fucking minds every week with what is and isn't good for you, see now they reckon that the food table triangle thingy is arse about and we should be eating more fatty crap?
