But Southy, your arguments go as much for meat eaters as vegans! The perfect diet doesnt exist, if it did, we would all be on it, so no matter what you eat, you will always be missing something, vegan or not
i just hate 'em because like i said earlier haven't EVER known one that hasn't wanted to push the fact they are a vego..kinda like how wankers wanna pick me just because im tattooed, its my choice and i don't push it onto others..see what im trying ta say yet?
Bev (a vege) is always trying to get me to eat vegs... what I say is, if we go out to dinner we only need to order one meal - I have the steak, and she has the salad! Simple!
Interesting discussion. I would say that I eat a well balanced diet (sometimes a bit too much choccy, but I love it so there ) but I became a veggie over 10 years ago because of my love of animals, not for health reasons. I don't preach my vegetarianism, I've never met anyone that has, although I will discuss my reasons for my choices when asked. But that's as far as I go.
I find the claims that veggies don't get enough proteins, vitamins and minerals quite hysterical. Meat is not the only source of protein and iron. A good mix of pulses, beans, tofu, and good old fashioned fruit and veg will give you everything you need to survive. If it weren't the case I would have been on deaths door ages ago.
Originally posted by Moon Child Okay, calling Southy's derogatory comments on vegetarians is not something I would call brilliant. I do see the point that he is making but the truth is that you don't need modern medicine to be a vegetarian.

I didn't say everything he said was brilliant, just that one line. I'm a firm believer that you can live an active and healthy life on a vegetarian diet. I know quite a few people who do. My point is many people who promote alternative lifestyles often discredit science and medicine, yet if it wasn't for science and medicine, they wouldn't be able to live their lifestyle. If your lifestyle works for you Moony, more power to you!
