Steel Panther appreciation thread

They play in Vegas all the time. They are pretty much the big local act. If you're ever in a gambling mood and making a trip out to vegas, be sure to check their schedule and check out one of their shows! They're great live!

I fucking love me some Steel Panther. My favourite is Turn Out The Lights, closely followed by Party All Day since it's so catchy.

The lyrics are so hilarious and corny, but the playing and music is amazing, weird but pretty good combination!

Steel Panther is like the official party band of me and my friends, one of them organizes a "metalparty" every month
and he plays steel panther at least 2-3 times every time and we're using quotes from their lyrics as jokes :D

I LOVE THEM!

They remind me of The Darkness ....

with less of a Queen influence and more of a Def Leppard thing going on

I fucking HATE Def Leppard

The Darkness is not even in the same league as Steel Panther. A co-worker tried to convince me they're great. I listened to their stuff...and promptly put Steel Panther back on. And, I love (pre-Hysteria) Def Leppard. ;)

I didn't get it at first and used to diss glam-rock/hair-metal, but now i'm older and know better :

Songs are catchy as hell, the spoofing is brilliant hence hilarious, production is awesome, great musicians, and the guitar tone is THE SHIT !!!

I actually didn't like this album much.. it sounds like a weird mix of new g'n'r and hardcore supergay.
But i will admit that from time to time there is such a kick ass riff that you shit your pants and rape your grandma.

Steel Panther fucking rules! So much more interesting than most of the modern growl/scream vocal stylings. The production is incredible: "Feel the Steel" has to be one of the absolute best sounding records of the last ten years. (that's my opinion, anyway.)

Gotta get the new one....

Really sad to say that the new record isn't doing much for me. Sounds a bit like it's been taken down to a formula. Doesn't quite have the same 'ZING!' factor as the debut. Mix is a lot worse too - the vocals get drowned quite often, which is a huge fail given how vital the lyrics are in this band.

The debut is a freakin' masterpiece though. Some really crafty work all-round.

You can listen to the stream of their new "Balls Out" album here: http://www.electricmariachi.com/album-streams/metal/steel-panther-balls-out-album-stream

It comes out next week on November 1st.

:kickass:

Edit: After listening to the entire album, I'm not impressed. Their first album was MUCH better, imo. These songs just sound too.... forced? It's like they tried too hard. All of the songs on the first album were catchy, melodic, had great playing, and the production was awesome. This album just screams mediocre. Damn... I was really looking forward to this one too. :(
