I'm glad they are able to do Stem Cell research in most of the US. Makes me want to become a biologist and work on this sort of stuff.

The difficult bit is making them turn into the type of cell you want.

You don't "make" them do anything, they just do. They're pretty much "blank" cells and turn into whatever cell specialty is required at the location they are implanted. It's not like they're going to turn into liver cells if you place them with skin tissue.

Scientists managed to put stem cells on a synthetic heart "shell" and they just developed into cardiac cells and started beating.

Also, you can get stem cells from bone marrow and other places.
