Does anyone here read Stephen King alot?? He's my favorite author... he's an idol to me as I am a creative writing major. I think it's a shame that he gets the title of a "Horror" author... because there is always so much more to his work! He's a genius with words and charactar creation. IMO... "The Stand" is one of the best books ever written in histroy... it's nothing short of amazing. The Dark Tower Series, IT, and Desperation are all strokes of genius also. What do you think?

Koontz is badass... and I think that Phantoms was his best... however... lately... his new stuff kinda sucks... i feel that he's going into more straight murder mystery instead of the sci-fi/horror genre... which just makes them like any other mystery novel out there. Intensity was bad ass even though it wasn't supernatural though. And Winter Moon was amazing.

The only thing I read by Clive Barker was "Weaveworld" and it was GOD AWFUL... but I don't think it reflects on his work well because that novel was never that popular. It was his attempt at the classic fantasy novel and lets just say that he needs to stick with weird horror... it was BAD.

I've read over 20 Dean Koontz books, my absoulute favorite was Lightning, second favorite was The Bad Place. My favorite author as of now is Orson Scott Card, i've read Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Pastwatch, and am almost done with the Worthing Saga (my current favorite). I listened to a Stephen King audiobook once and I didn't really like it much, I saw the Stand on TV, but that is TV and TV always ruins books.

Yah... don't listen to stephen king audio books.... and the stand on TV... horrible compared to the book... left SOOOO much out... I would really recomend reading it... and the dark tower series so far.... AMAZING... I didn' tlike The Bad Place... I don't know why... just didn't

I like Stephen King, and I've listened to him on audio cassette too. He narrates most of his stuff, and man, he has an annoying voice. You start to get used to it after a while, but at first it's enough to make you dislike the story.

Haven't read King books for some years... Liked his books a lot when I was about 13 or 14... I used to like the Dark Tower series as well as his short stories... Needful Things is nice too.

Stephen King is a great writer, I just finished reading Black House. I've noticed the last couple of books are related in some way to the Dark Tower Series. Hearts in Atlantis had Ted Braughtigan (however you spell it) who is a breaker, and Black House goes a little deeper into Dark Tower information.
Anne Rice is another author I like a lot, I'm reading Merrick now. The new Dark Tower book should be coming out in about a year.
