I put this hear because I figured I'd get more people who listen to Steve Roach.

Anyways, I want to get into this guy's music, but with such an extensive discography, I don't know where to even begin. I am looking more into his atmospheric ambient pieces, but I am also interested in the ritual ambient and the trance stuff.

I haven't listened to his solo stuff but I can recommend his collaborations with Robert Rich if you have not heard those yet.

There's only two as far as I know. Soma and Strata.

I guess as vaguely related recommendations I'd suggest Seven Veils and Calling Down the Sky by Robert Rich and the Robert Rich/Lustmord collaboration Stalker. The latter is one of my favourite ambient albums for sure (though it's dark ambient so that might not be what you're looking for at the moment).

This is very good advice.

As for Steve Roach, you can't go too far wrong with 'The Magnificent Void'

YES YES YES!! I have that one, along with Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces, and Midnight Moon. Midnight Moon is one of those albums, where the music and album title are a complete match. He mostly used guitar on this one, but of course, it doesn't sound like a guitar. I love his atmospheric, minimalistic approach. On Magnificent Void, a lot of the stuff sounds absolutely, evil/scary. Towards the middle of the album, there's stuff that absolutely gives me goosebumps, and makes my neck hair stand up! Really good stuff to listen to, while reading sci-fi books, or drifting off to sleep to.
