just thought i'd share this...i know a lot of you have mentioned that you have ME-50s...as i do. i was tweaking around the other day, and i achieved a pretty good still life tone, which is my favorite tone off of any opeth album. give these settings a shot and tell me what you think.

my amp is a laney vc30...

clean channel, bass - 0, mid's - 4, trebble - 0...

ME50

tone modify - single -> humbucker (even if you already have hbs)

distortion...the natural overdrive (which is the alternate of the od-1 i believe)

.....bass (about halfway up) -from my tweaking discoveries, i have found that getting a thick, clear, and squishy lead sound (like mike's) comes from THIS knob on the ME50...especially on the natural overdrive setting...i preffer getting my bass from this knob, rather than the amp itself.

tone (almost a quarter of the way up)

drive (3/4) or a little less, depends on how hard you drive amp

now...these settings were for when i had my amp's volume on 8...so they may sound a bit dark unless you turn your amp up...

I'd give it a shot. But I use it in conjunction with a 10 watt Epiphone amp, so I doubt I'd be getting anything remotely close to that sound.

I'm relatively happy with my own sounds though... there's no need for me to copy Mike.
