Stoner rock mixing tips

I'd say go for the biggest bass sound you can and as many tracks of guitar as you can. For a band I recorded I even double tracked the bass in parts, sounds huge.

I like hitting an amp like Marshall, Orange, Matamp etc with a fuzz pedal.
more poweramp than preampdist from the amp.
lotsa room on drums.
do even less soloing (I mean putting instrument in "solo") while mixing than usual...
actually...try to not do that at all, the goal is not the cleanest sound but one big sound....I'll usually have everything playing at the same time and then keep jumping back and forth between intruments during the mix.
otherwise you might run into problems with your bass freqs (you don't want it boomy or muddy but still big).
but these are just standard tips of course, nothing new or groundbreaking,....sorry, I just don't have any time atm to help more

clean sound?
its stoner rock, who needs cleanliness when you're listening to fucken stoner rock?

fucktons of room mic, a filthy, fuzzed out tone, use a sunn beta lead or hi-watt or something awesome like that if you can get your hands on it :D

its all about the mud in stoner rock

check out: sleep - dopesmoker and use that as a reference mix haha

Have a listen to the latest Down album, at first I twitched my nose when I heard it, but after a second listen... damn!! That's a fucking kick ass album, I love the extremely raw production, lots of fizzy guitars but with that incredibly heavy twang in them! Damn, super natural and pretty compressed drums! Man listen to that shit and use it as reference!!

both great albums and def reference points

my question was actually asking those who had some experience
was there anything special/trick of the trade thing with eq's compreesors etc that were being used

The only trick of the trade is experience in fiddling around with different settings. Give that a go and you'll learn HEAPS
